Afterglow

(Part 13 of the Europe Collection, and an ode to the rain-soaked streets of Paris.)

In Paris it is raining.

It’s raining in the night

The sky is grey and cloudy

But in Paris it is bright.

The streetlamps shine so softly

The buildings seem to glow

And every sidewalk’s gleaming

With the creamy sheen of gold

Tour Eiffel’s in the distance

Her golden beacon calls

Her body glitters gently

As the rain tenderly falls

The puddles glisten warmly

Although the wind is cold

The buildings beckon to me

Every shining window’s soaked

Elsewhere it is pouring,

Elsewhere floods may start

But when it rains in Paris

The city’s a work of art.

I LOVE, I LOVE

IN THE RAIN, OHH’
